Quilt alongs, mysteries, inspirations from Design Wall Mondays ...

Quilt mysteries .. I love a good mystery. I found one quite by accident this January by Sentimental Stitches and Dear Jane (see www.sentimentalstitches.com and www.dearjane.com )  This mystery is a tribute to the Infinite Variety exhibit put on last spring by the American Folk Art Museum in NYC. They showcased a private collection owned by Joanna Rose of red and white quilts she had been collecting over the last few decades. She had collected over 650 quilts, now that is amazing! For her 80th birthday, she and her husband, along with the Museum, displayed these quilts in the Park Avenue Armory for five days. In the Nov/Dec issue of Quiltmaker, there are 3 quilts featured from the exhibit, along with how to get a free app for your iPhone, iPod or Android smart phone.   So now I can slowly put together a red and white quilt of my own.

I really did complete a few quilts this year as I collect other projects I just NEED to do. I am working on my Civil War tribute (I am now on Block #3, the Battle of Gettysburg), I am building a log cabin for ME (since I give away most of my creations), and of course, my sister's wedding anniversary quilt which took a back seat since I completed the top. The back is on my design wall -- we just had an issue on the final border.

I am currently working on a quick quilt made for a friend that has just completed 100+ days of cancer treatment -- it's a surprise for her homecoming. I am just now stitching down the binding and am trying to round the 3rd corner .. I do love the coziness of it.

Looking back to 2011, I have completed several quilts this year, 2 for a new grandson, stockings and table runners, the log cabin star (top anyway), 2 large lonestars for graduation presents, and planning a few more using my EQ design software.

Now for 2012, my plan is to keep focusing on the PIZLB (projects in Ziploc bags) and to make myself a quilt since I keep giving them away.  And I found that I really get alot of inspiration from some new found blogs that encompass Design Wall Mondays -- there is no end! So I must contain my endless awe and decide what I want to do first .. FOCUS!

And remember to post on Mondays ... every Monday ....

Stitch on ~
